November – New Art Exhibition: “Treasures from Atlantis“

Living so close to the Atlantic Ocean and feeling a deep love for the sea and all of its secrets inspired me to use my skills as a goldsmith to recreate those wonders.

The result: a collection of forty wall jewellery objects currently on show at my brother’s jewellery store, Goldschmiede Rottler in Trier, Germany.

Carefully selected precious pearls, coral, mother-of-pearl and conch shell come alive on blues, greens, greys, or sterling silver. I chose to present them in contemporary thick square frames. Each piece is 24 cm by 24 cm.

They each have a life of their own and function independently yet the design and size of the wall jewellery makes it tempting to combine them for different visual effects depending on their placement. This allows for quite a personal input by each owner.

Several have already gone to new homes far from the sea.

October: Misty mornings and the leaves are turning…

Autumn has begun, the days are getting shorter and the first rains have cleansed the dusty soil.

Sometimes, in the tranquillity of the early morning, trees and shrubs are wrapped in a magic greyish light, creating a mystical stillness…

September – The month of harvesting

Fruit trees and vineyards are loaded and almost collapsing under the weight of the crop. It is time to start with the harvest. I am inspired by the full round ripeness and the overflowing cornucopia that Mother Nature offers us each and every year. I think of Gaea, the ancient Greek goddess of the earth, mother of the Titans: round, ripe, mature, fertile...
